FAQ's

Q1: How does it work at YoungFerns?

Well, first things first, the parents give us a call to schedule an appointment. You know, like booking a table at your favorite restaurant, but instead of food, it's for a child's assessment. Once we assess your kiddo, we'll fill you in on their current neurological status and the game plan to get them on track. Our amazing staff will break down the therapy needed, and we'll let you know when we can fit your little one into our schedule. Fair warning: there might be a bit of a wait – think of it like lining up for concert tickets, but way more worthwhile!

Q2: What do you do at the school? How is it different from other special schools?

At YoungFerns, we’re not just about hitting the books. We’re about the whole package! Our daily program is tailor-made for each child, focusing on their overall development. Academics? Sure, but that’s just one piece of the puzzle. We’re here to boost their abilities first, then get to the ABCs.

Q3: Would you also work on speech and language development?

You bet! We focus on the building blocks of speech. Think of our therapies as the foundation for a skyscraper of language and speech skills.

Q4: What would be the student-to-teacher ratio?

It's practically 1:3. Each child gets a therapist and a helper – it's like having your own personal development squad.

Q5: What is the age criterion for admissions?

No specific age limit here. But, just like planting a tree, the younger you start, the better the results. Early bird catches the worm, right?

Q6: Children with what kind of disabilities would best benefit from this program?

Our program is all about neuroplasticity and brain development. If your child has a conditions like Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, GDD, PDD, ADD, ADHD, or Hyperactivity, this program is designed to help.

Q7: How long will we have to conduct this program to see results in my child?

Ah, the million-dollar question. It varies! Depends on the severity. Mild cases might see quicker results, while severe ones could take a bit longer. Patience is key here, folks.

Q8: How would you evaluate and assess my child’s progress?

We kick things off with an assessment using our comprehensive developmental profile sheet, looking at everything from visual and auditory skills to mobility and language. We re-evaluate every three months to tweak and tailor the program as needed.

Q9: What would my child’s daily schedule be like?

Imagine a day packed with activities – creeping, crawling, reflex training, reading, math, and more! Most kids join us from 9 AM to 12 PM or 1 PM to 5 PM (After school care). It's like a fun, educational workout session.

Q10: How will the program progress for my child?

It all depends on our initial and ongoing evaluations. We design activities based on the specific areas of the brain that need a boost. It’s a personalized journey.

Q11: Do you provide transportation for the children?

Oh, we’d love to, but we haven’t quite figured out teleportation yet. For now, transportation is up to the parents. Think of it as another way to bond with your child and perhaps sneak in a quick karaoke session on the way!

Q12: What qualifications do the therapists at YoungFerns have?

Our therapists are the superheroes of the neurological world. They hold degrees and certifications in special education, occupational therapy, speech therapy, and more. They’re like the Avengers, but for child development.

Q13: How do you ensure the safety of the children during the therapy sessions?

Safety is our top priority! We have strict protocols in place, from sanitized equipment to well-trained staff. We keep a close eye on the kids, like hawks – or better yet, like overprotective parents!

Q16: Can parents observe therapy sessions?

Absolutely! We encourage parents to be a part of the process. Think of it as a backstage pass to see the magic happen. You can observe, learn, and even get involved in certain activities.

Q17: What happens if my child gets sick and misses a session?

No worries! We all get the occasional sniffle. Just let us know, and we’ll reschedule. Our focus is on consistency, but we understand that life happens. We’ll make sure your child stays on track.

Q18: Are there any extracurricular activities?

Of course! We’re not all work and no play. We have a range of extracurricular activities like sports, art, music, and even yoga. It’s all about balancing therapy with fun and creativity.

Q19: How do you handle behavioral issues during sessions?

We’re well-equipped to handle all kinds of behaviors. Our therapists use positive reinforcement and individualized strategies to manage and redirect behaviors. We believe in patience and persistence – and a sprinkle of humor!

Q20: Do you offer support for parents as well?

Absolutely! We know parenting is no walk in the park. We offer workshops, counseling, and support groups to help parents navigate this journey. You’re not alone; we’re in this together.

Q21: Can my child continue regular school while attending YoungFerns?

Yes, many of our children attend regular school and come to us for additional support. We’ll work with your child’s school schedule to make sure they get the best of both worlds.
